We buy He-Man & Masters of the Universe Toys

Mattel created the Masters of the Universe toys line in 1981. They were 5.5 inch action figures that hit stores in 1982. The two main characters released were He-Man and Skeletor, followed by Man at Arms, Beast Man and Battle Cat. Teela, Mer Man, Stratos and Zodiac followed. Teela was originally supposed to be the sorceress but Mattel felt two female characters would not have enough demand.

The playsets soon followed – Battle Ram, Wind Raider and Castle Greyskull. The brains behind the character / vehicle design came from Mark Taylor, Tony Guerrero and Ted Mayer.

The backstories of the characters via the mini comics that accompanied the toys. (49 distinct comics issued between 1981 to 1987) the first 4 comics were He-Man and the Power Sword, The King of Castle Grayskull, Battle in the Clouds, and The Vengeance of Skeletor.
